First Bank volunteers once again had the opportunity to work on a house rehabilitation, thanks to Habitat for Humanity Bucks County! When team build days come up, the spots are quickly filled with volunteers eager to help a house become a home.
One of our teams helped the builders to hang the ceiling and finish drywall in closets – another team helped with getting a fresh coat of paint on the ceiling and walls and putting finishing touches on the trim, and our third team helped to install siding! It was an honor for the First Bank team to be able to work with the Habitat team and other volunteer groups to get the house finished in time for the dedication ceremony on April 28th, 2022.

Volunteers with Habitat Bucks enjoy the sense of satisfaction that comes with hard work for a good cause, and it is often a wonderful learning experience. Missy, one of the volunteers and part of First Bank’s lending team, shared how the build day had a profound impact on her:
“I signed up to volunteer thinking I was going to be painting inside. When I arrived, I learned we were putting siding on the house. I was nervous never having done anything like that before. The folks at Habitat for Humanity were awesome! They taught us everything we needed to know about siding. I stepped outside my comfort zone and learned to swing a hammer and put-up siding! I felt so accomplished.
We also learned about the organization. We were helping to build a home for a single mom with two sons. This really pulled at my heart strings, I am a single mom of a 19-year-old daughter. I know the struggles of being a single parent and knowing I helped empower another single mom to reach her goals of being a homeowner brought me such joy. “
